Zoomf Seminar - ‘Searching for Profits’

Written by Mike Carter on January 4, 2008 – 3:33 pm -

Following the success of our previous seminar, we are now organising a series of similar events aimed at property professionals for 2008.

The guestlist is officially open for our next seminar on Wednesday the 6th of February, where the theme will be ‘Searching for Profits’ and will be focusing on portal effectiveness, recent changes in the property market and web 2.0 marketing. There will be presentations from the experts and a Q&A session so you can give them a grilling. Speakers will include our very own Mike Carter (www.zoomf.com), online marketing guru Mark Hopwood (www.snowvalley.com), and prominent London estate agent Mike Toogood, founder of Square Mile (www.m2pm.com). We are in the process of confirming another special guest and, if you need any more persuading, I will be moderating the event. It will be held at the British Computer Society which is just off The Strand, same as before to those who came last time.

Whilst we’re not expecting queues on the scale of those at the opening of the Harrods Sale, spaces are limited and being snapped up quick so we’d advise you to get in touch sooner rather than later if you’d like to come. It is free to attend, and there will be wine and nice people to talk to, but entrance is by ticket only so you will have to let us know that you’re planning to make an appearance - you can do that by sending an email to marianna@zoomf.com. Similarly, if you’d like more information Marianna is the lady to contact.

Hopefully we’ll see you there!

Well that was fun…

Last night saw the very first Zoomf Seminar. I know I’ve banged on about it on the blog for the last month or so, some of you will be pleased to hear the end of it (sorry!) but hopefully most will be eager to hear how it went.

Firstly, we wish to thank the speakers. Mike obviously had to be there, it seems to be hard to attend any web 2.0 event without hearing Mike present these days, but Ben, Andy, Annie and Mark travelled from far and wide to give their two cents on the harmonization of web 2.0 and the UK property market. Their views were incredibly insightful, sparked debate and were gratefully received by a very mixed audience.

And naturally we wish to thank those who attended for, well, attending. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t easy to recruit people for the session. Ed from Nestoria has found the same thing when trying to get estate agents ‘interested’ in web 2.0 before. It can certainly be a challenge to convince very established companies that change would be for the better, as Ben has already blogged about. But the agents who did come certianly raised some interesting points, and it was lovely to see everyone getting along - although perhaps in a dark alley there would have been some scraps among some people ;-)

Hopefully we can do this sort of thing more and more in the future, so for anyone who missed out this time - you may find yourself bombarded with invites in the near future!

And like with all events I organize, my over ordering of kettle chips worked a treat. I got to eat them the whole way home!

Web 2.0 and Property Seminar

Written by Mike Carter on September 5, 2007 – 2:06 pm -

Hurrah! The strikes are over and the tubes are gradually starting to return to normal. Soon we’ll all be moaning about how much we hate them anyway, how fickle we can be.

The real good news of course is that it means tomorrow night’s seminar will be unaffected. I would hate to think Bob Crow had encroached on the future of internet and property!

So if you’re coming tomorrow then we all look forward to meeting you, if you’re not then you can look forward to the highlights being posted here on Friday.

Attendees have been emailed a map and directions, if you haven’t received these then send me an email - poppy@zoomf.com.

:-)

p.s

If you have not had your place confirmed by a member of the Zoomf squad, then I’m afraid you can’t just ‘turn up’ at the event. The BCS may not seem like a potential terrorist hot-spot, but they have tight security regulations and will only be admitting people who’s names are on the guest list.

Last few places left!

Written by Mike Carter on August 28, 2007 – 3:01 pm -

There are still a few remaining places available for the free ‘Web 2.0 and Property Seminar’ we are hosting at the British Computer Society next Thursday (6th of September).

For estate agents who want to stay ahead of the game, I really recommend attending to learn about what the internet can do for your business. Innovation is happening in this industry and it’s happening with or without you!

For an invitation please email poppy@zoomf.com.

Hope to see some of you there!
