Bright and brash a la Big Brother…
Written by Mike Carter on June 18, 2008When I say ‘bright and brash’ I’m not referring to the BB9 contestants, although they’d probably satisfy the brash part I’m not sure that I’d describe them as a bright bunch of people. I am of course talking about the house itself, with its big colours and zany interiors. Regardless of whether people tune into the show, the house is always of interest. There’s some very odd features this year that you wouldn’t want anywhere near your own home (decapitated doll prison cell anyone?) but if Big Brother has inspired you to inject some colour into your home this summer then here are some ideas to get you started…
What kitchen could be without a Smeg appliance?

This groovy number is expensive at £682.99, but who else gets compliments from their neighbours for their sexy dishwasher? It comes in a range of colours and can be bought here.
A cheaper kitchen appliance with just as much colour is this toaster from KitchenAid…

It could be yours for less than £60 and also comes in a gorgeous bright red, available here.
If money’s not an object, why not replace the whole kitchen?

This modern burgundy kitchen is available at MFI, I’m sure Enedmol would approve.
Crazy mirrors are also a big part of the BB house this year, there’s nothing a housemate likes more than to preen themselves in front of a mirror that’s actually a camera.

This mirror, designed by Nick Munro, is perfect to check and recheck your lip gloss in front of, and you can rest assured the nation won’t be watching. Although the same can probably be said for those in the BB house too. It’s yours for £250, here.
Lastly, if you’re modelling your own home on Big Brother you can’t be without this iconic fellow…

The Tam Tam Puppy stool is a must for those looking to recreate the BB vibe, give a dog a home for £170 here.
