New home + (free) new car = more interested buyers?

So it doesn’t come as a huge surprise to see that developers P&M Project Management are offering a free car to anyone who purchases one of three new luxury first floor apartments in the Brampton development in Cumbria. The 2 bedroom apartments have a guide price of £147,000 and the car will be delivered to your personal allocated space. Before you get too excited it’s not exactly a Porsche (which we’ve seen offered as an incentive before), it’s a Citreon C1 on offer, but it’s still a nice incentive.
Developer Phil Parkin said, “We know that the property market is suffering from a lack of confidence at the moment and we thought that the incentive of a free car might just encourage potential purchasers to view these fantastic apartments.” And that makes a lot of sense, the novelty value of a free car may not be the deal breaker (it’s worth just under £6k) but it will work to get people through the door to view the properties.
It’s not the only incentive we’ve seen this week either. Foxtons are offering zero commissions to the first 200 instructions at their soon to open Camden branch (read more at TheRatAndMouse). But the best incentive I’ve seen has to be from the US, a developer in San Diego has been offering a BOGOF deal. As in, buy one luxury property in the San Pasqual Valley and get a free 2000 sq.ft home in Esconido. Now that’s an interesting offer! But before you leap up and down thinking you’ve found how to spend that $1.6million that’s been burning a hole in your chinos, the offer ended on May 31st. Damn. Read more at Zillow.
